A Week-Long Celebration of Bourbon
The Venue: Guthrie Opportunity Center
For the past two years, the Kentucky Historical Society has played host to this prestigious event, following an initial year at the Frazier History Museum. This year, the Guthrie Opportunity Center in Bardstown, KY, set the scene for an unforgettable evening. With its versatile space and rich history, the venue provided the perfect backdrop for the gala.
A New Spin: "The Manhattan"
When the Kentucky Bourbon Festival’s Executive Director approached Michaelis Events to “spice up” the gala, the team rose to the challenge with flair. They presented three bourbon-inspired themes, and “The Manhattan” was the winning choice. Inspired by the popular cocktail and given a NYC twist, the theme brought a fresh, vibrant energy to the event.
Stunning Decor and Ambiance
The transformation of the Guthrie Opportunity Center was nothing short of magical. Michaelis Events designed custom bourbon-inspired marquees and playbills, drawing inspiration from Broadway to give the space a theatrical flair. The custom-designed dance floor was a showstopper, providing the perfect spot for guests to dance the night away.
Engraved glassware gifts added a personalized touch, while living statues and a graffiti artist brought a unique, interactive element to the evening. The space was illuminated with custom lighting that recreated the “glow” of the New York City skyline at night, immersing guests in a truly magical atmosphere.
Entertainment and Festivities
Entertainment was a key element of “The Manhattan” theme. A live band kept the energy high, playing a mix of classic hits and contemporary favorites that had everyone on their feet. The living statues and graffiti artists provided unique, engaging experiences that delighted guests throughout the evening.
